(Shenyang, 18 June 2024) - Leslie LI will assume the position of General Manager and lead the administration, operation and staff of the Shenyang New World EXPO ("EXPO") effective 18th June 2024.
LI comes to EXPO following his position as Vice President of the China National Convention Center (CNCC) in Beijing. He maintained this position at CNCC for over 5 years. During that period, he also served as temporary General Manager of 2 other China venues under management agreements with CNCC. His primary concentration was on marketing, branding and new business development and managing the related staff in those areas.
LI expressed enthusiasm and optimism about the new opportunities in Shenyang and achieving the EXPO's vision. He stated, "It is a great honor to take the lead following the extraordinary successes that have resulted since EXPO's opening in 2017, despite the many challenges caused during the COVID era. I look forward to enhancing the effort and leading a very special staff that is professionally trained and in place. My key goals are to energize the staff daily and to increase the venues economic impact to Shenyang while assuring EXPO leads in the venue professionalism of China's exhibition and meeting industry".
LI is assuming EXPO's senior executive position following Diane CHEN who has served as GM and an EXPO executive since 2012 during its construction. CHEN is being promoted to one of two Deputy Managing Directors at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) due to increasing activities and the enhancements to senior management resources at HKCEC. Both EXPO and HKCEC are venues managed by subsidiary companies of NWS Holdings in Hong Kong.
Cliff Wallace, previously Chairman of EXPO's management company and currently EXPO's senior executive advisor said, "LI comes to EXPO with exceptional educational, business and venue experience and credentials. EXPO is the premier and most innovative conference and exhibition venue in Northeastern China. Located in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, EXPO holds 24,000 sqm of gross exhibition space with 4,000 sqm of multi-functional convention, meeting and banquet space, including a 1,700 sqm column-free convention hall and 20 multi-functional meeting rooms.
